Wednesday

So things could be better. On Monday while doing calf raises I messed up my right hamstring. Nothing that serious, it seemed. I still felt it yesterday during and after training so I got it looked at by the team physio. She said that I have a partial tear to the ligament, so that blows. Since the pain isn't great and it's not constantly problematic, it doesn't seem that serious. But if I chose to overwork it, it could turn into tendonitis pretty quick with my other muscles making up for the damaged tendon.

So basically I can't work out my legs, I'll miss training on Thursday, and give it a go on Sunday. I'll be icing it down constantly in between. It's a little swollen still, but that will go down.

We play Hutt Old Boys University this week. Hopefully we'll have better numbers than last week, but we will see. I'm going out to buy new cleats today. The ground sure isn't like back at home! It is wet as. I keep slipping all over the place out there on the pitch. So I'm going to buy some cleats with some big studs to I can keep my footing. It's a must over here. Well I'm going to hit the gym, unfortunately upper body, and make a couple calls. Cheers

Ok, so I need some explanation on the relegation system over there. Is it a 2-part season? Or are you (possibly) going to be relegated for next season after the last two games. I couldn't imagine the season ending already, so I'm a bit confused.

Also, you already field a senior 3 team, so where would they compete? Please, enlighten me.

I logged in to give you props on your solo try in the last match. The try coming on a grubber no less. A sure sign of rugby skill! My suggestion being continue to show your skill-set while also continuing to work on your fitness. Those two things improving will get you a call up to Senior Firsts! Now I see your injured. TRAGIC! Your energy must now be put into getting healed. The type of injury you have while not too serious now, if not taken seriously could lead to something that will have you out of commission for quite sometime? Take care of business and don't worry about missing a couple of matches. They understand these types of injuries over there. They are expected. Do not lie about your fitness level when asked because you think you may not be selected? You will only hurt yourself in the long run. This is the gospel my man!

Wram up. Warm up. Warm up. Stretch. Ham string injuries, back in my USL cross country days, were a direct result of not warming up adequately before trying to go flat out. Sprinters bore the brunt of the injuries. Try to get some rubbing balm on your legs before the match and keep you legs warm. Because it is cold & wet there now, you will have a more difficult time of keeping your legs warm and loose.

Take good care of your injury. I'm feeling everyone of my past injuries.....even today. My hip is getting better slowly. Not climbing mountains yet. Making a ton of wine. Have 500 bottles aging. 66 gallons in bulk. The new grape '08 crop is turning color so it won't be long.

Good luck. Enjoy it while you can and make the best of it.

Ok, sure. I think there's a 2 round system. Not sure what happens if we move down while there's another senior 3 team. We would have to fight ourselves out of our league if we drop down. We've been short on numbers. Only good thing about that is they can't really afford to lose me right now, so i get plenty of game time. The leg is alright right now, so we'll see how it holds up tomorrow. I'll be sure to warm it up nicely.
Right now, I have to go see if I can get my hands on an All Blacks vrs. South Africa international rugby match ticket. Gotsta go

Yeah so I asked around about the dropping down system. Basically if a team drops down a grade all teams below get shifted. Even if we were doing well, and the senior 1 team got relegated down, we would have to move down as well. At least, this is what they told me last night. Nobody I speak to never seem to know for sure.
