So this weekend was the last game of the first round. We played our big rival, Lower Hutt, which is right across this bridge from Petone. We began the game out well but we lost it 4 tries to 1. What a bummer. It seemed like everyone was amped up more than usual, but our forwards didn't reall pull it out. Got ran over a few times and pushed in for a couple tries. The backs didn't really do that much in the way of big plays. It was a windy day and a little wet so we generally did crash balls and ran it back to the support of the forwards rather than taking it out wide and risk losing the ball.
So there's always next week. I think we stay in the Senior 2 division b/c the Senior firsts aren't moving down I don't think, and I hear you can't have two teams from the same club in the same division. But, I hear different things every week so I don't think anyone really knows what they're talking about or what's going to happen. We'll just wait and see. Whatever happens happens.
They are celebrating the Maori New Year this weekend. A couple of my flat mates and I are going to go into Wellington tomorrow and check out Te Papa (the New Zealand Museum) b/c they're doing something special to celebrate the New Year. That should be cool. I'm pretty banged up after this last match so I'm not really interested in tramping this day off or anything exhausting. Probably just hit the gym late Monday evening or something. I spoke with the Premier fitness coach and he set up a new weights and cardio program suited to me and my needs. So I'm gonna give it a shot this week. Only problem is my hamstring isn't quite healed up enough to do deadlifts and leg workouts that target that muscle. I can to squats easy enough though. Nonetheless I hope tomorrow will be a pretty day.
