So now things are back to normal. Chris is definitely gone and my brief but spectacular holiday is defintely over.
The weather over here has been nuts. They'll be days of terrible, rainy, hailing rain followed by a couple of days which make it not even seem we're in winter. The bad days usually come around Thursday or Friday so it has it's way with the rugby fields and leaves us with a bog with no chance to play. The two Saturday's Chris was here BOTH my games were canceled. So our season is done, except we have 2 more make-up games to play- the games which were canceled.
We lost our game last week 18-10. Funny enough, that was the score at half time. We had the wind in the second and didn't pull out any points, even when the opposition had 17 players on the field and we had 15. At one point they had a player hiding behind a tree so the ref didn't see him sneak on/off the field. Yeah.
I only played in the first half, and I was pretty happy with that. Before the match Saturday, I haven't done so much as walk. First I had that hamstring pull, then I was sick for about a month. So, to say the least I was a little out of shape. Surpringly enough, I felt fine at half, but we had many guys ready to play and the coach tried to get them in. Also, if a player moves down a grade or up a grade they HAVE to get a certain amount of play time. Someone came down from the senior first so my coach had to give him the second half at some position, so he took fullback.
My game was pretty smaverage. I didn't really do anything great and I didn't really expect to after doing absolutely nothing for a month.
So the two games coming up are Old Boys University and Johnsonville. The togh part about these late games is that we won't be playing the same team we played in the first round. Since the season is over for most teams, there will be Premier players and others from top echelon teams that will come down to help their "lower" team. The good thing is that OBU's senior first team is in the semi-finals so they won't be pulling help from them. So these two games are my team's only chance to get a win. Fingers crossed.
Meanwhile I've started working out this week again and boy is it freakin painfull. It feels like I've taken 6 months off the way I'm so sore. Ridiculous! I'm gonna sit out on the gym today and just do rugby practice. Don't want to be too sore for the match on Saturday! Well, hopefully it won't get canceled!

No pain, no gain. I've started riding my stationary bike, not wanting to take a chance yet on my road bikes. Went throught the pain phase and now moving on. Getting two hours a day on the bike and up to 40 miles per day, Monday through Thursday. I don't ride on the weekends because the bike is in N.O. Starting to feel strong, with minimal discomfort on the hip. So, I can empathize with the soreness.
Still hitting the Rock Star. Buying it from Sam's a case at a time. ROCK ON!!!!!
I am following the weather there with internet links. Looks like wicked storms back to back circling the Artic. We are entering the most active part of the hurricane season, with forecasts of highten activity the next 6 weeks. I'll send you the global model I'm using.
Later guy. Take care.
Rock Star AND Trail Mix? Good Lord Turbo!!! That stuff is going to turn you into a Stallion!
Geez! 40 miles a day. That's definitly some work. I've been trying to think of what I'm going to do once rugby is over. I think I've had enough rugby for a bit so I don't think I'm keen for doing 7's once my season is over.
I may just get into riding my bike, but the wind is so strong it's kindof ludicris. Maybe I'll try running the hills and stuff, but it's just so cold and rainy right now. It's really tough to get my ass up and moving in this weather. Last night at training was the worst! It was so cold I couldn't feel my hands and it was pouring down raining. We were even running around ducks that were hanging out on the field. DUCKS!FFS! It rained all night. The game this weekend is not looking good.
Did you ever find out about the indoor soccer?
Yeah. Your in it over there in the dead of winter. Not a good time to get cosey with exercising out doors. Its more like duck and goose weather under the covers, if you can find a duck or a goose to play with. Got to be careful, however, those seasons don't happen without a price!
Enjoy your stay. Looking forward to your return. I'll have some wine that will be just about right in December. Rock Star & Wine. POO-YAH.
What's this "Boobs on Bikes" taking place in New Zealand? Say it on the Reuter's new page. If it is as cold there as you say, I'ld pay a price to see that!!!!!
