Wed March 5

So it's Wednesday and I'm getting ready for the internal tryouts tomorrow.

Yesterday we did the dreaded beap test. If you know about it and have done it, I doubt you like it. Nobody does. It's just a fitness test where you run constant shuttle runs to gauge your fitness. These runs increase with speed each minute. Anyway, last year when I thought I was at my peak fitness when I tried out for the South Allstars I made an 11.9 on the beap test. My level yesterday put me at 12.10. Surprised the hell out of me. I think I was 5th overall out of those who did it. I was the 3rd back. One forward beat me. A flanker ofcourse! I was leading the pack for a while and everyone was cheering me on. It was great.

So tomorrow we have internal tryouts. Just a controlled scrimage for the coaches to gauge the players and see what team they may play for. Every player just plays for one team. They have age grades and seniors. Age grades are under 19, under 21. They have the Premier team, and then Senior 1, 2, and 3. Over the next two weeks we'll play 2 or 3 times and by the end of it I'll know what senior's team I'll be playing on. It's hard to know who are actually playing on the seniors since everyone has been practicing together. Someone has told me I'll probably start one senior 2 and work up to senior 1. As long as I'm playing I'm happy but will always strive for more ofcourse.

Now I must go to work. Cheers

Aww...so proud of you James!! Just don't let it go to your head until you are where you want to be!! How's your knee holding up? And your allergies/asthma?

3rd out of all the backs! FFS James, who do you think you are? You may already know this but that test alone has prob solidified your place on the 2nd side. Keep bringing the business dude. Hows the kicking coming along?

Awesome?! The climate must be agreeing with you. Competition is good, but remember to have fun while you're at it!! Having fun will help you relax and perform better. Hard work and have fun!!!I found that I didn't perform as well when being tense and anxious. Positive thinking my boy will renew your strength and let you soar. We'll be pulling for you. Good luck.

All is well here. I'll see the doctor again on the 20th of March, hoping to be released for light duty. I'm walking with a cane now. I will probably go to the office in New Orleans for a month before going back offshore.

It almost time to bottle the '07 batch of wine. I spiked 7 gallons of La. Port with some brandy, which I named Private Stock. It's a dandy. Wish you could have brought some over.

Well, off I go for my daily walk. I'm up to 2 miles a day. I'll walk to Marceaux's and get me an energy drink.

Cheers.

I am off to visit Rob Curtis for a week of skiing in Banff. I'll email you some pics when I return. And speaking of pics, How about more from you?
